Runner will bring "joggling" to Pensacola Marathon

Joe Salter runs marathons. He also juggles. At the same time.

So, if you’re running in the Pensacola Marathon on Sunday or if you’re watching: You’re not hallucinating. You don’t need that extra splash of water.

As if running the 26.2 miles won’t be challenge enough, Salter will be upping the ante this weekend — taking on the marathon course while juggling three balls.

Just add a new word to your vocabulary: joggling, a sport which, if nothing else, turns heads.

“It’s one of two things: You either get a real nice comment or gesture or you get a look of confusion, a ‘Did I just see that?’ look,” said Salter, 28, who works as a children’s mental health counselor at Lakeview Center in Pensacola.

“I’m kind of used to it. They are always shocked to see me.”

Salter was a juggler first. His father first taught him at age 8, and he worked up to juggling six balls simultaneously.
